The Git-R-Done Foundation is excited to announce a recent donation to The Toy Makers. This wonderful group of volunteers makes toys and delivers them to sick children.

Based in New Port Richey, Florida,  The ToyMakers Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation (IRS approved 501 (c) (3) organization) that consists entirely of volunteers (approximately 90 men and women) who donate their time to making simple wooden toys for sick and needy children in the Tampa Bay Area including Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, and Hernando counties. We have been providing free hand made toys to needy and sick children since 1982 just reaching an accumulated total of 375,000 toys. Last year the group made and distributed 21,000 toys, including nearly 1,800 handmade dolls, to 27 different agencies in the Tampa Bay Area. Toys are delivered every three months to agencies such as All Children’s Hospital, All Children’s Speciality Care, the Ronald McDonald Houses, Salvation Army, Shriner’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Cancer Institute, Tampa Children’s Hospital, Youth and Family Alternatives, the Enrichment Centers of Hernando, and local Police and Fire departments.

The ToyMakers survive solely on the generosity of the general public and organizations. We have no corporate sponsors, so funds are raised by telling our story to the general public at craft fairs and other events.   Donations of materials such as wood and machine tools are always needed, as well as monetary donations to buy wheels, axles, paint, sandpaper, saw blades, drills, etc. 100% of all material and money donated to the ToyMakers is used in the making of the toys.  No one in the organization receives compensation.  Since the majority of our members are retired, we have a great range of backgrounds with varied experiences.  There are no membership dues or costs and anybody that wants to help out is always welcome.  For more information about our organization, please see our website:  www.ToyMakers.org.
